POSITIVELY IMPACTING THE COMMUNITY

We of the University of Kentucky chapter hold this pillar as the most important as we know how critical our influence is on the world and future generations. We dedicate much of our time to planning, organizing and executing different outreach programs that focus both on the welfare of the community and the awareness of minorities in STEM. Here are some programs that we have hosted and/or joined in order to positively impact the community:

  • NSBE Spreads the Love – Annual event focused on the wellbeing of the needy in the Lexington community
    • Winter Clothing Drive
    • Provide Bag Lunches
  • Walk For Education – Participated in a local trunk or treat at Douglass Park to give away sweets and explain NSBE’s purpose to parents and kids
  • Somerset – Annual event where middle school students join us for STEM activities (egg drop, bridge building, Rube Goldberg machines..etc.)
  • Body Shop – Host battery-controlled car competition for high school students
  • Metro CATS – Semester-long program where our members taught digital literacy to inner city kids in Lexington
